Older Michigan Lake Cottage Gets a Facelift
This Southwest Michigan 1.5 story home overlooking Austin Lake was built in 1977. The current owners Bryan and Kristi Cruwys have breathed new life into the home with some updates. “We saw the home’s potential, but we needed help getting it there.” Bryan shared. He went on to say that was where BlackBerry Systems stepped in.
There were several sliding doors along the wall facing the lake. These sliders were very out of date, lacked energy efficiency, and were hard to open and close. It was decided to replace the sliding doors and all the windows with Kolbe Forgent Series products. Making them not only easier to open and close but to clean as well as saving money by being energy efficient.
Next, the Blackberry team replaced the home’s siding with Alside Charter Oak and Board & Batten vinyl siding. “This is when we saw the home really start to come to life again!” Bryan said.
The Cruwys didn’t stop there. They realized if going this far in with a home facelift, why not remove a few little balconies and add a front porch? This structural change elevated the home from a 70s look to a modern-looking lakefront home.
When asking the homeowners what they liked the most out of all the home improvements done, Bryan replied, “It’s a tie between the vinyl siding and the front porch. I can’t pick one over the other.” The Cruwys shared they would recommend BlackBerry Systems to all their friends and families for multiple reasons. For any issues or concerns, the team would come back to address them. BlackBerry stands behind their work and their craftsmanship is impeccable. Bryan said he could sum their BlackBerry experience up in one sentence, “All I can say is overall a very easy team to work with.”
